Beauty Awaits You…..

Beauty in Blue Art Event
February 28-March 4th 2013

Hello Artful Friends!

My name is Karen Hillman.  I am a fine Art Photographer/ Artist in the South Florida area.  I love all things vintage and nostalgic! My work ranges from my hand colored black and white portraits, to my altered and embellished belt buckles, jewel boxes, hand mirrors and more!

I can hardly wait to welcome my “Beauties” for this years
BEAUTY IN BLUE EVENT!  It is a small and intimate affair, and the bliss is beyond measure!

May I  present Beauty in Blue, an artistic weekend retreat “deep in the heart of Texas!”

This will be a one of a kind weekend which includes creating, shopping and relaxing with 12 artful women.

Our “home away from home” will be the wonderful  Whitworth Ranch Retreat where we will “escape and create” and enjoy the incredible surroundings of this 50 acre ranch home. You can learn more about the ranch and the weekend plans by visiting the pages directly above.

Here are a few photos of last years event.

We were a group of like minded artists from all over the country!  Some of us  were established friends, but  many of us  had never met before the weekend… we ALL left as  forever friends!

We were spoiled with the incredible meals prepared by Chef/owner of Whitworth Ranch Retreat, Stacy Seely.

We enjoyed a full tea lunch and Tex-Mex special dishes all weekend long!

We indulged in projects in  shades of blue by Molly Knox, Karen Hillman and Jennifer Hayslip.

Me being “FUNKY JUNKY”  at the incredible Girls Gone Junkin, one of our favorite shops  at The Canton Market which we will visit once again!

The entire weekend was based around the tranquil colors of blue!!!

As a photographer for 20 years, this event presented the chance for me to make a long time dream come true.

I had forever wished to photograph during Blue Bonnet season.  The Blue Bonnet is the Texas state flower, and it so happened that the timing was perfect this past year… my dreams came true at Beauty in Blue..

We had an afternoon in the Blue Bonnets and I photographed each of my beauties in the splendor of blue,  and then we toasted with a beautiful blue cocktail, right there in the field

I had advertised locally that I would be offering photo sessions and after my art event, I stayed on for 5 days and photographed children and families among the Blue Bonnets.

Every afternoon after my shoots, I would sit until the sun went down giving thanks that this photography dream of mine came true…here are a  just few of my images…..

I hope that you will join us this year..

Because of the Easter holiday in 2013,  Beauty in Blue will be happening earlier this year…we won’t see the Blue Bonnets.. this will be more of a “sweater weather” year, but the plans I have lined up will take us to explore so many other amazing places Texas has to offer!  You won’t believe your eyes!!
